3rd Annual Hicks' Camp Out

We did it again . . .
This year 32 of us managed to make our way onto 3 (extremely tight) campsites down at Lake Dardanelle's State Park in my home town of Russellville, AR.
Friday night was all about setting up camp . . .
Playing some bags . . .
And campfire singing on into the night . . .
Saturday started out with a great breakfast prepared by our camp chef - complete with bacon, eggs, sausage, doughnuts, and watermelon.  YUM
Of course, after breakfast it was time for dessert . . .
What?? You don't have an industrial size ice cream machine on site when you go camping??  Poor thing.
Hunter & Dessi made their own kind of dessert - good ole fashion mud pies
No one's happier than a little boy playing in the dirt
Saturday afternoon was HOT . . .
HOT . . .
and HOTTER . . .
So there wasn't much going on except for sitting & relaxing in the shade . . .
or splashing in the pool . . .
As the heat of the day let up (and we added fans that blew misting water down on us), people started smiling again  :)  hahaha
And playing games . . .
( and winning games . . . )
But sooner than later it was TIME TO EAT (again.)
Fried fish & Succotash . . . need I say more
Although I'm pretty sure my child ate enough blue iced sugar cookies to turn into a Smurf . . .
Then it was more laughter & relaxation as we re-told childhood stories from our pasts . . .
While Lacy provided home-made tattoos for the kids
Sunday started out with another delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, biscuits, & sausage gravy provided by our own, Chef Paul.
Then it was more hanging out & visiting among family . . .

And more playing of games . . .
Crowned "Bean Bag Champs"
And of course more water . . .
And water fights . . .

In the end, there were 3 broken camping chairs . . .
Dozens of escaped crickets . . .
And many truly wonderful memories made . . .

I have told you these things, that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy and gladness may be of full measure and complete and overflowing.
John 15:11
