The 4th of July: Family & Fireworks

This 4th of July was special in that Hunter was actually old enough to enjoy it!  The first part of the weekend we spent in Russellville with the Williams' family.  It's always a wonderful time getting to hang out and visit with them.  Hunter adores his 8 (going on 10) cousins, which makes for lots of joy and laughter . . . and noise!!  Regardless, swimming & snacking on chips, dips, & grilled hot dogs make for one relaxing weekend.  We (adults) were even able to squeeze in a late Late night game of Turkey Track and sibling rivalry!  Needless to say, everyone had a great time.  Although I will mention the fact that I was stung, for the very first time in my life by anything, TWICE by a horribly mean Wasp!  Once on the foot and another on the hip - and it hurt!  Hubby teased me about all my whining, but YOWSERS!!
Upon joining the men by the pool . . . We questioned how much "watching the kids" these Daddies were actually doing
Our sweet Kylie turned *13* and instantly grew into a teenager... Although just as beautiful & precious as always
Every kid jumped off the diving board this year, including Abigail, Hunter, & Easton.  Even this mommy proved I was still young & fun by doing some tricks & flips off it too!!  We also celebrated a couple MILESTONE birthdays!! Andrew turned 30 and Jeff turned 40 this year!! (Was it coincidence the 40 cracked . . . LOL)
Instead of going to a local church's annual firework show this year, we sat in lawn chairs in our driveway and watched as several families around the neighborhood lit up the night's sky.  It was beautiful and incredibly peaceful.  We also let Hunter do his first firework which is my personal favorite, a SPARKLER!  Though, he was not interested in it after about 2.5 seconds.  To him the exciting part was lighting the fireworks . . . scary.  Which led to HIS favorite, the bottle rocket - he is such a boy!  He also loved watching the "nake" grow.  He was so adorable running back and forth "lighting" the fireworks with his daddy.  Let me also take a moment to praise Jesus, for keeping his Angels around us and protecting us from what could have been a terrible accident when one of the bigger rockets misfired.  (hopefully we all learned a valuable lesson that evening).
The entire weekend was so much fun, especially Independence Day!  I mean, seriously, who doesn't appreciate the day off work, just to spend it with your precious family?!  We swam and ate at our summer favorites, Tropical Smoothie for lunch and take-out Outback for dinner!!  Then to top the night off, we spread out on a blanket on some soft country club grass and enjoyed the most beautiful show!  Perfect.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, the is freedom.
